My strength and conditioning journey started in my late 30’s, seeing how it changed the lives of several around me. I can still remember the burn in my chest, completely exhausted, and needing to sit for 15 minutes before getting in my car and driving home. As a teacher, and parent of 2 young boys, the need for a change in lifestyle was necessary. Fast forward 7 years, and it has been one of the most positive experiences of my life. strength and conditioning is a way of life!! After beginning strength and conditioning, my family followed suit. Our nightly routine, for me, my wife, and 2 sons (14 & 11), involves spending time with our strength and conditioning family. The positivity of strength and conditioning has even influenced my parents (68 & 79 years old), who have been at it for 6 years.
As the years have passed, I have self-reflected on the positive changes that strength and conditioning has made in my family’s life. We are all physically, mentally, and socially stronger. This lead me to pursue my CFL1 Certification, which I obtained in 2018. With my CFL1, I am able to share the strength and conditioning methodology with others, in a safe and functional manner.
Being active most of my life, I was always accepting of challenging new sports, my drive for a more balanced style of fitness came after years of competing in Strongman, after 3 trips to Nationals and 2 trips to Worlds with Team USA, I decided that I wanted to help the industry of Strongman grow. I started coaching athletes and I realized the affect it was having on me and also the individuals I was coaching. I was persuaded to try strength and conditioning workouts due to my active lifestyle and was immediately hooked on the hard work, the functionality, the community and how much better I felt while building a body that was now not only strong, but fast and had more mobility! After 2 years of CrossFit, I missed the coaching aspect I had with Strongman and pursued my CFL1. It has by far been one of the best decisions I have made. Helping people to grow mentally and physically and realizing the positive attributes of having a healthy lifestyle is just one of the many reasons I love strength and conditioning. The best feeling for me is coaching an athlete and the smile and sense of pride they feel after accomplishing something they thought they could not do.
